Kourtney (Jason) Sokmen is an author, writer, and publicist. In 2019, she joined the NYC office of bread & Butter as a senior account executive for food and beverage, working with some of NYC’s best restaurants and chefs.

For two+ years, she worked as the publicity manager for Meredith Special Interest Media/Books (aka Time Inc. Books), a division of Meredith Corporation (formerly Time Inc.). In this role, she led the campaigns for 30+ non-fiction titles per year and worked with high-profile authors such as country music icon Martina McBride, Food Network’s Valerie Bertinelli, James Beard nominated Chef Todd Richards, and TODAY’s Siri Daly.

For nearly six years (2011-2016), Kourtney managed the publicity department for Ulysses Press, an independent publisher headquartered in Berkeley, CA. In 2013, she signed on as the publicist for Decades, an all-eras rock band from Chico, CA.

She is also an author herself, and wrote or coauthored five books within five years: The College Bucket List (with Darcy Pedersen, 2016); 101 Fun Personality Quizzes (2015); Lights Camera Booze: Drinking Games for Your Favorite Movies (with Lauren Metz, 2013), Never Have I Ever (with Worm Miller, 2012), and The Naughty Bucket List (2011).

Beyond her love for books, Kourtney is a pop culture connoisseur–you’ll want her on your team for trivia night. She co-hosted a monthly Hollywood gossip segment on At a Glance Talk Radio and tapped into her celebrity knowledge to write for YourTango and MetroNY.

Her career started in 2008 working as a writer and editor for Seventeen and TWIST magazines, where she regularly interviewed A-List celebrities including Taylor Swift, The Jonas Brothers, Emma Stone, Zac Efron, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez.

She received her bachelor’s degree in news-editorial journalism from California State University, Chico in 2007.

When she’s not reading or writing, Kourtney can most likely be found indulging her pop culture addiction with a Netflix binge, hitting the movie theater (always with popcorn!), adding to her shoe collection, or consuming a meal with carbs and cheese. She lives in Brooklyn, NY. You can reach her at kourtneysokmen@gmail.com.
